Barack Obama | Welcome Romney to the race

Helmut --

Here we go -- Romney, the Republican National Committee, and Republican state parties just announced they'll begin raising money together.

Just like that, Romney's donors can give $75,800 -- a significant boost from the $5,000 max they could give last week.

We're not going to get a clearer sign that this election is on.

All of the emails, door knocks, and donations were preparing us for today.

If you know you're going to support President Obama with a donation in the next seven months, now's the time to do it -- donate $3 or more.

We need to grow this campaign now because we can't afford to let the other side's attack machine distort the truth about President Obama, or Romney's own record on the issues. No matter what he eventually says to try to win over independents, we know that if Romney is elected, he'll begin to undo our progress on Day One and push a social agenda that turns back the clock on women's rights and health.

And they're gearing up for a fight.

Romney's spokesperson has announced: "Our donors are ready to mobilize for November."

What that means is:

--Top Romney donors can now legally give 15 times more than they could last week -- up to $75,800 each from $5,000.
--The GOP establishment is giving a green light to outside groups like Rove's American Crossroads and the Koch Brothers' Americans for Prosperity to begin the all-out assault on President Obama.

That's why your support is critical in this next phase of this campaign.

For all the big money, they know they can't match us on the ground or the grassroots.

Today we're going to welcome them to the race:

National Finance Director
